Work brought me to the upstate area, specifically Greer, Memorial weekend 2024. My first six months in the area, I was traveling more than 75% of the time, and when I was home I was usually catching up on choirs or just relaxing. During this time, I was fortunate to meet Mark Moreno, past president of the Greer Rotary. He would tell me the wonderful events and fundraisers they were doing for the local community and would always extend an invite to join them. Great fortune continued, and I was able to transition into a new position that required no travel, and allowed me to take Mark up on the invite.
I was able to join the club at the Mauldin High School for a food drive and got a firsthand look at the outstanding work the community was doing for those a little less fortunate. It was shortly after this I became a member of the Greer Rotary, and truly a day does not go by I am not thankful. I would be remised if I didn’t ‘take a step back’ and say how far from my comfort zone it was to join. Unfortunately, such involvement is not common within my family and socio-economic background. What I soon discovered was the diverse backgrounds, and life-stories of the group are what make our group so great. It does not matter your background, what is common amongst our group, in other Rotary groups, and those who work for organizations we work with is, the desire to help those in need (and have fun while doing it).
Since becoming a member, I have had the pleasure to work at: Dining Around Greer, Greer Goes Global, Freedom Blast, and Paws and Pints for Polio. Beyond these events, I’ve had the pleasure of working along side our team for Back To School Backpacks, Stuff the Duffle for area homeless veterans, and participated in other Rotary golf outing fundraisers (I will leave how I played for another time). One final comment about the big community events……I have enjoyed ‘working’ at these events so much that I do not walk around to see the many other booths and attractions. One of my Rotary goals for 2026 is to ‘explore’ a little more at Dining Around Greer and Greer Goes Global.
In closing, I would like to emphasize how much I have enjoyed my short time in Rotary so much that I have accepted the role of Learning Facilitator. This is just a small gesture of how much I am looking forward to be a Rotarian for a long time to come.

Eric Bridge, Club Learning Facilitator
What a day! On October 25, Rotarians, friends, and community members gathered at The Southern Growl for our Paws & Pints for Polio fundraiser — and it was a huge success! We were so honored to have District 7750 Governor Dave Brenner, District Foundation Chair Beth Padgett, and Immediate Past President for Rotary International, Stephanie Urchick join us.
Funds raised are matched two more times by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation through Rotary International’s global partnership — multiplying our impact in the fight to end polio worldwide. Together, we raised over $1500 to support Rotary’s mission to End Polio Now.
A big thank-you to everyone who came out, brought their pups, donated, and helped make the afternoon such a success. Your participation helps ensure that Rotary’s work to eradicate polio continues until every child is safe from this preventable disease.

Last year during a visit and presentation from Adaptive Pickleball there was a lot of energy generated and we decided to pursue a district grant to help our this organization that promotes pickleball for all people. Fast forward to August and our club was honored to receive and present a Rotary District 7750 grant to purchase an adaptive wheelchair for Advanced Pickleball. This funding allows them to expand their reach and increase their service to those with diverse-abilities. Pickleball for All!
